From the school reader, I still remember this, and still wonder why the water says Mudway-aushka:

At the door on summer evenings
Sat the little Hiawatha;
Heard the whispering of the pine-trees,
Heard the lapping of the waters,
Sounds of music, words of wonder;
'Minne-wawa!" said the Pine-trees,
Mudway-aushka!" said the water.

From "Hiawatha's Childhood" - Longfellow

Thanks for the Longfellow quote - rang it in to RRR Breakfasters this morning as they couldn't remember the whole thing. Surprised myself by remembering it too :)
